Central Vacuum Stores is proud to spend this week celebrating our brave service men and women. In honor of Memorial Day, we’ll feature a different military hero, highlighting each of the five US military branches. Today and tomorrow, we’re turning a spotlight on the United States Navy. And who better to kick it off than our favorite boss…

Central Vacuum Stores owner, Roger Ambrose!

Roger served in the US Navy from July 1966 to June 1969 as a Petty Officer, 3rd Class. During the Vietnam War, Roger was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, Subic Bay Naval Air Station in the Philippines, and on the USS Hancock aircraft carrier. Roger worked on electronics with a Navy jet fighter squadron. The squadron earned the nickname “Mig Killers” after successfully shooting down three Mig aircrafts over Vietnam.

After his service, Mr. Ambrose continued his education at the University of South Florida where he majored in marketing. He joined his father’s business in 1972 and the rest is Central Vacuum Stores history! Those who know him know that his time spent working on electronics in the Navy sure did stick. Roger is famous for “tinkering” and has an uncanny ability to fix things around the office and at home. In fact, we’re highlighting Roger’s very own invention.
