Many customers ask us, “How do I best clean my carpeting?” The answer is simple: you need a powerful vacuum! Homes with lots of carpeting deserve special care. In fact, they deserve special central vacuum systems designed just for them!
We’ve collected our most powerful central vacuum units to deep clean your carpeting with strong suction. Taking those units and making them even more custom, we then offer you a selection of carpet-minded accessory kits, focusing on electric powerheads. These kits take into account the many nuances of properly cleaning your home.
Why Electric Powerheads?
When comparing carpet powerheads, you’ll find two standard categories: Air Turbine/Turbo and Electric. An air turbine or turbo tool simply uses the suction from your vacuum to rotate the beater bar at the base of the powerhead. The beater bar then lifts and separates the fibers of your carpeting to release dirt and debris and leaves a refreshed finish. Air turbine powerheads tend to be less expensive and function with many central vacuum systems.
While an air turbine powerhead is a simple solution for a home with a few, low pile, area rugs, you can understand that diverting some of the suction power for the beater bar rotation would not thoroughly clean a home with lots of carpeting.
Understanding the limitations of the suction-powered attachments, our carpet specific central vacuum kits will only include electric powerheads. The beater bars in these tools are powered by electricity and thus, rotate independently of the suction from the vacuum. This allows the suction power to be fully focused on cleaning your carpet!
How Do I Choose?
Our carpeting central vacuum kits will offer a variety of choices. First, you’ll need to select between a bagged and a cyclonic (bagless) unit. While bagged units tend to be less expensive, keep in mind that you will need to continue to purchase replacement bags for the life of the unit. Over time, this can narrow or eliminate the price gap.
Next, choose the unit offering enough power to clean the square footage of your home.
Finally, choose the attachment kit that best suits your needs. Keep in mind, each kit will contain a powerhead designed to clean your carpet. But additional features such as metal, telescoping wands, better quality dusting and upholstery brushes, or more innovative powerheads will be found in the “Signature Plus” sets.
