Scanning through my social media feed the other day I saw that a friend posted a few photos of the gifts she had received for her birthday. This friend was doubly blessed with a knack for baking and a generous husband. Said husband took it upon himself to shower his wife with several, top-of-the-line appliances including a very expensive blender and counter-top mixer. Accompanying the photos showing her beaming while mixing protein shakes and cookie batter was the comment, “Isn’t it funny what we get excited about as adults?”
I’m certain nothing truer has ever been said. In fact, it spawned this blog. We don’t sell cooking products here at Central Vacuum Stores but we sure sell other ridiculously exciting grown-up toys. So much so, it’s almost daily that we chat with the generous spouse who is shopping for the appliance oh his wife’s dreams…a Miele vacuum cleaner.
So who wants a fancy vacuum cleaner? Um…everyone. Let’s face it, we spend a lot of time cleaning our homes and a good portion of that is vacuuming. It’s likely done just about every day. So it’s no wonder that we dream about the expensive models we see at stores with their claims of powerful suction and easy maneuverability. But how can you be certain that your hard-earned money is being spent on the right product?
Let’s take a look at Miele.
German engineer, Carl Miele designed his first canister vacuum cleaner in 1931 beginning a long heritage of innovation and quality. Stamped on all Miele vacuums was the phrase, “Immer Besser,” Forever Better, a philosophy and a promise.
What’s The Big Deal?
What makes a Miele so special? Air quality. Miele vacuums feature an absolutely incredible filtration design.
As you clean around your home, your vacuum uses air suction to remove dust and dirt. That waste is processed through the vacuum and into a bag or canister for collection. But what happens to the air? It needs to be filtered and released back into your home. The problem is, the released air often includes tiny dust, and allergens that are too small to be captured. So as you clean, you’re actually spewing dusty air throughout your home! Yikes.
Miele, however, dedicated their engineering to solve this problem with the AirClean Sealed System Filtration. The system is threefold: the Miele AirClean dustbag, a motor protection filter, and a Miele exhaust filter. Within the dustbag are nine layers of electrostatically charged materials to catch particles as small as 0.1 microns. All this science adds up to incredible filtration and unmatched air quality. The air that is filtered back into your home is clean and without dangerous allergens.
Another aspect of Miele’s extreme filtration is the serious suction. The air is so well circulated through the unit, it allows for the vacuum cleaner to function flawlessly and powerfully. You’ll be amazed how well it cleans your hard flooring and carpeting. In fact, don’t be surprised to be a little grossed out by how ineffective your previous vacuum was.
More Exceptional Miele Features:
- Options for HEPA certified filtration
- Patented Silence Insulation for an unbelievably quiet running motor
- Bumper Strip to save furniture
- 360 degree castor wheels
- 1200 watts of power
- Lightweight, resistant body material
- High quality floor attachments with solid steel bearings and components
How Do I Know Which One To Buy?
Miele divides their vacuum cleaners into “Series‘.” Within a series are units with similar features and price ranges. For example, the S2 models are less expensive and offer less options while the S8 Series are the top-of-the-line, most innovative and current models. The S7 line of Mieles contain their upright vacuum cleaners. To learn more about each Series, check out my post, How To Compare Miele Vacuums, Series By Series.
The first step in deciding which Miele is right for you is determining your type of flooring. We’ve created these handy charts to help you navigate the options based on your flooring. Obviously, homes with dense carpeting will have different needs from those with tile. This is the best place to start to narrow down your options. We’ve also included an option for homeowners with pets as Miele has a line of vacuums specifically for them!
Is It Really Worth The Money?
There are a lot of exciting things on which to spend your money; vacations, new cars, stuff for your kids. But, as adults, you understand that practicality often wins the day (I’m picturing the ugly loafers I had to buy for arch support.) You’ve also come to appreciate the value of quality craftsmanship and lasting durability. Now is not the time to buy an appliance that will just need to be replaced in a few years. Your vacuum cleaner is, undeniably, the most important cleaning tool in your closet…
- They are used more regularly than many appliances
- They take a beating, often being pulled around corners and into furniture
- They play a pivotal role in keeping allergy or asthma sufferers breathing easy
- They play a pivotal role in removing dust mites, fleas, insect eggs, and larva from your carpeting
- They serve multiple purposes, being used for flooring, drapery, upholstery, and dozens of other cleaning needs
So to answer: yes. Buying a quality vacuum is without a doubt worth your investment. Many Miele vacuums include a 10 year casing and motor warranty. These vacuums are not only built to last but also built to keep you happy for many years to come.
To Sum It Up
Miele’s are awesome. Once once you’ve maneuvered the incredibly lightweight unit around your furniture, once you’ve seen the fibers of your carpeting fluffed in your wake, once you’ve turned it on and not experienced that stinky odor you’ve had with vacuums past…once you’ve used one, you’ll understand. It’s truly incredible what a difference a Miele makes.
