This week, Miele unveiled new canister models and announced some changes to its Series structure. Effective immediately, the existing Classic C1 Olympus, Titan, Capri, and Delphi, as well as the Compact C2 Quartz, Onyx, and Topaz, will be discontinued. They will be replaced with three new models that encompass their features: the Compact C1 Pure Suction, the Compact C1 Turbo Team, and the Electro Plus (or Electro+.)

Of these three new models, the Compact C2 Electro+ Canister Vacuum is the only one to feature an electric powerhead. We’re reviewing this new cleaner and comparing it to former models to give you our best assessment.

0091583_miele-compact-c2-electro-vacuumFirst off, it should be noted that the new Compact C2 Electro+ is designed for homes with carpeting thanks to the electric wand and floor tool. The Electro+ is better suited for carpeted homes because the included SEB228 Electric Powerbrush is a more powerful cleaning tool. If you have medium to low pile rugs or carpeting, an electric vacuum is a must. The Electro+ is the right choice for you if you have hard floors, too, because it also includes Miele’s SBBParquet-3 – Parquet Floor Tool.

To compare it to former cleaners, the Electro+ is very similar to the Miele Compact C2 Topaz. The Topaz was also an electric cleaner and it included a hard floor brush. However, the Electro+ has an even better carpet floor tool, so it’s actually a step up from the Topaz. Better still, it’s more affordable than the Topaz was.

Another great feature on the Compact C2 Electro+ is the incredible filtration. The Electro+ features Miele’s patented 12-stage AirClean Sealed System that keeps even fine dust and dirt particles inside the canister. Combined with the included HEPA AirClean Filter, pre-motor filter, and 3.7 quart Type FJM AirClean dustbag, the Electro+ is an undeniably elite machine, especially for the price!

The Miele Electro+ features a rotary dial to switch between the six power levels – from 300 to 1200 watts. Additionally, the power on/off and the automatic cord retract are simple foot operated buttons for ease of use.

We give this vacuum cleaner an 8 / 10 in overall rating. It ranks so high because it includes such quality floor tools (the electric carpet powerhead and the hard floor brush) and offers the power of electric cleaning. We also gave it such a high rating because it’s really unbelievably affordable. The Electro+ runs the same price as units that previously had lesser quality filtration and tools. You really cannot beat the features for the price. Finally, the high review is due to the included HEPA filter and Miele’s patented Sealed Construction.

The reason the Electro+ didn’t get ten stars is because it’s missing some of the real bells & whistles you’ll find on the better models. For example, the Complete C3 models will have things like automatic height settings, onboard tool storage, ergonomic handles, and additional stellar features. The Electro+ ranks slightly under those models. However, it’s important to note that the Electro+ is significantly more affordable than some of the canisters in that Miele series. So, for your money, this may actually be a better fit.

Overall, the Miele Compact C2 Electro+ Vacuum Cleaner really impressed us. the maneuverability and versatility make it a great option for either residential or commercial use. It’s a nice little machine and we suspect it’s going to be a very popular model for Miele!
